Northern Irish dairy farmers Alexander and Jack McCready are experiencing the significant benefits of the ADF Milking System in their brand new 30-point ATL parlour. Farming at R&A McCready just outside Castlewellan, the father and son team milk approximately 200 cows, and say the ADF System has transformed their milking routine since installing in November 2024.

The main benefit the family have noticed is the reliability and consistency of the ADF automatic teat dipping. “We’re not using as much teat dip and the whole teat is covered,” the duo explain. “We can leave anyone to milk the cows, as we know the teat dip is done. Whereas before some weren’t getting any at all. It’s another job you don’t have to do. And when you’ve got much to do, ADF is making life handier,” adds Alexander.

The impact on milking efficiency and herd health has been substantial. “Milking has been a lot handier with less cows kicking off and less mastitis cases,” confirms Jack. “Because the dip is automatically going onto the teats, it’s a lot easier during milking.” The speed of milking has also improved. “The cows are milking out faster too, which is definitely a big help. Time is money!” Jack emphasises.

Overall, the McCreadys are highly satisfied with the ADF System. “It’s just a handy system to work. It’s lightweight, it’s easy on the cows. It’s worked well here – so far, so good. I definitely recommend it,” summarises Jack.

The McCready family’s experience provides a strong endorsement for how the ADF System can help dairy farmers to improve teat dip consistency, reduce mastitis, and enhance milking efficiency.
