Alan Trainer and his wife Fiona run Byretown Farm located in the beautiful countryside of Lanark, Scotland. The couple were early adopters of the ADF System, installing it in their 14 point swingover parlour in 2008.
“My main reason for installing ADF was for improving parlour routine. I liked the actual dipping straight away and flushing, so the cows could go straight out without me having an extra job to do,” Alan explains. “The whole parlour routine runs much more smoothly. Getting that routine consistent is the main benefit.”
Thrilled with the performance of the ADF System, Alan decided to further enhance his milking operation by upgrading to ADF’s latest milking technology, InVent, in October 2021. “I put InVent in because I felt our vacuum levels were on the high side and individual cows were suffering with the units staying on too long at a high vacuum,” he explains.
The ADF InVent system helps to reduce high vacuum levels by individually venting each liner on each teat when vacuum reaches a threshold level. Clean, filtered air is introduced into the mouthpiece chamber of the liner, reducing high vacuum levels and resulting in more even and complete milk outs. “InVent was a way to solve the percentage of the herd that were not being milked properly. We’ve also seen an improvement in teat condition since installing it,” Alan adds.
For nearly 20 years Alan and his herd have been enjoying the benefits of the Automatic Dipping and Flushing system. “It’s an excellent system that’s reliable and improves milking routine quite dramatically,” says Alan. “I would recommend ADF as a product. I feel it is essential to my milking parlour.”
