What are farmers saying about Automatic Dipping and Flushing from ADF Milking
mark

Jack Fisher, owner of Cruggleton Farm in Withorn, has been using the ADF system for the past two years and wouldn’t be without it now.

“Since installing the ADF system our cell counts are consistently at half what they were when we started,” says Jack.

“We bought in new herd and very shortly afterwards we saw an increase in mastitis.  When we had the infected cows tested we were horrified to learn they had staph aureus, which is highly contagious and destructive.

“We’d been considering the ADF system for a while before the problem but at that point it was a case of ‘needs must’.  Since installing the ADF system we’ve got the staph under control and no new cases have occurred.

“We’ve seen significantly fewer cases of mastitis which I put down to sterilising every liner between each cow.  I operate a one man parlour and so it’s reassuring to know that the dip is being applied at the right time, every time.

“And, of course, by automating the dipping and flushing it means that I save on the cost of a second man.

Two years on Jack says he wouldn’t be without the system. “ADF might seem like a ‘nice to have’ but when you’re losing your bonus due to high cell counts it becomes an essential.”
