ADF Milking system in the news and at exhibitions
Open Day in Lumsden - Southland

ADF Open Day in Lumsden, Southland

ADF Milking’s innovative and award-winning automatic dipping and flushing milking system is being demonstrated on the Timothy’s family farm at an Open Day on Wednesday 1 May 2013.

The Timothy’s installed ADF in their 50-bale rotary milking shed in February 2012. It was in reaction to troubles with mastitis – they found they were constantly treating infected cows and it was impossible to keep on top of it.

“I reckon we’ve halved our cell counts since putting ADF in”, says Wyn Timothy. “We would normally be getting counts of 250-300,000 at this time of year – we’re averaging around 120,000 peaking to 150,000. We’re still getting mastitis in some problem cows but over time we’ll weed them out of the herd. We’re definitely treating less cows. ADF is great – it’s doing what we hoped and its results will only get better over time”.

The Open Day provides an opportunity for dairy farmers and those interested in ADF to learn more about the Timothy’s experiences with ADF and to see a small herd of cows being milked using the system. Representatives from ADF and local installers Added Energy will be on hand to answer queries.

The Open Day is being held at 888 Old Balfour Road, Lumsden on Wednesday 1 May, 12-2pm. Lunch is provided. To attend please contact Jo at ADF –  .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 0800 233 645.
